Global Administrative Areas

Hi,

I'm trying to create some maps with R on World Languages and World Families (of languages). This is the first time, ever, I'm trying to do something like this with R, so any kind of suggestion would be really appreciated. My main question is: which dataset should I download (in terms of create a world map) in order to do this? Any suggestion about how to create those maps?
